7th April 2012

Once again up for an early start to make for the Watford flight of locks and join the queue to go down and heading for Norton Junction. Leaving at 08.00 and making the locks at 09.05 joining the queue as number three boat. Here we took care of the general duties whilst waiting for the 10.00 start, giving me time to take a few photos.
Sally checking the bridge number we just passed through.

There are three locks here plus a flight of four staircase locks, and with Sally at the helm we went through smoothly, apart from one bump and a bit more pait gone (you love to see me painting dont you Sally). Once down the flight we passed Watford Gap Services on the M1 making for Norton Junction where we planned to stop for the night (but thats another story). Ariving at Norton we looked for a place to moor up, inching closer to Bucky Locks and with a single boat waiting we made the descision to carry on, as Sally was desperate to get to Bugbrooke. Why, I hear you asking, well there is a great pub there who do very special food (and what Sally wants, Sally gets) true love you see.
The locks were mainly for us, that is that the water was up and ready for us to go in, so they went well and very fast. The guy we shared with was a nice guy, but a bit of a moran when it comes to good clean manouvering and we got bumped a few times, but hey its just more painting.
Mooring up at Bugbrooke at 16.05 we had a cup of tea before going and booking our table for 19.00, then back to the boat for a shower and clean up (we have to be respectable you know). At seven we went in and had a great meal starting with Anti Pasti followed by for Sally, Lemon Sole and me, Pidgeon breast and for sweet we both had Creme Brulee. Then with a full feeling it was back to the boat and settle down for the night, letting Gipsy have some time wandering out.

Hey the great news is that my water heating bypass works and the boat was quite warm inside, very pleased.
