Up to date

A bit of a later start today after a lay in, leaving at 11.09 and taking a steady cruise down to Gayton. There was a lot of traffic on the water today and most of it going north with us going south, we did however get behind a boat who was happy just tootling along, so we sat behind him (quite content).
At Gayton Junction we made our turn onto the Northampton Arm, first stopping for water, and it was like Piccadilly with boats going North, South, East and West. Here we met a nice couple on NB Lady Aida and shared some good conversation and plans we both had. Water done we proceeded to Alvechurch Marina to top up our diesel tank, get a fresh bottle of gas and of course get a key that is needed for the locks on the Nene. All done and dusted we moved down to the locks ready for a 10am start tomorrow, and drop down 17 locks into Northampton and the river Nene.
Once moored, the wind got up and we had a little rain, the worst bit being a blow back down the chimney causing the smoke alarms to go off. The remedy was to take off our couling from the chimney and slant it away from the direction of the wind (problem solved) I am so clever (not).
