Fortunately the sun did come out before we caught up with all the floating debris which we had to negotiate on our way down.
We also caught and passed the work boats that had left the lock before us, taking care not to hit the trees that were running down the river as we did.
We arrived in Selby at 10.20 locking first, with Alex and Hillery having to hold Steelaway in the flow while we cleared and moored up on the green Selby canal.
As the day was till young and hot, we decided to push on finally mooring up at Knottingly after what was a six hour cruise.
Both Socks and Gypsy enjoyed the freedom of the countryside and were able to roam outside again without the fear of loosing them.
