left Knottingly going east on the Aire & Calder with two locks to negotiate before we made our turn onto the New junction canal which runs into Doncaster. The Aire and Calder seemed quite straight and wide offering little in the way scenic views, with the exception of Kellingley coal mine.
At Whitley lock we had to wait for the Humber princess before entering as the commercial craft take priority and when he arrived we followed him in.
We topped up our water at Pollington lock, Alex and I did a bit of fishing while the tanks were filling and it seemed to be a good spot, even jesting that we would stop there the night.
On the New junction canal we ran on for about a mile before pulling over for the night just before the Sykehouse lift bridge.
