Well here we are again, almost back to Willington and stuck
again because of flooding due to heavy rain. The upper reaches of the navigable
Trent between Alrewas and Wychnor lock is in flood, therefore all navigation
has been stopped awaiting a reduction in flow rates. Our plans of arriving back
home next week now look as though they will have to be put back by a week.
We have stopped here at Fradley junction and there is now a
fair gathering of boats waiting to continue their journey toward Burton on
Trent, also there are a number of boats at Alrewas sitting and waiting to do
the same, so it looks like slow progress from here even after the stoppage has
been lifted. Amongst those waiting are several hire boats whose holiday I feel
will end here as they will collected and transported back to their base.
Any lifting of the stoppage will be reported as it happens
on the blog.
