Here we are still at Great Barford and yesterday and last night we had more rain, causing the river to rise some 30 to 40 cm, so it looks like our meeting with the Smiths will be here and not St Neots, at least we have a water tap close by.

What a wet year this has been and looking back we were stuck on the bottom when we set off because of a water shortage, how things change. We heard from Graham and Carolann off NB Autumn Years earlier in the week and they were stuck in floods at Newark on the Trent, but as of yesterday they were on the move again and currently on the Nottingham cut.

Last night we move the boat further up on the mooring to a higher section of the quay because the water was rising, and it was a good job too as that section is now under water. There was only one boat going up the Ouse yesterday and all in all there have not been many this year at all (hope they aren’t flooded in).




While Sally was doing a bit of felt craft yesterday I decided to do a bit of fishing, and HEY, I caught my very first Pike and I was grinning from ear to ear.

    Very well done Sally,so with time on your hands there is no telling what one can do,keep up the good work, and you to Mike it would have been better if the pike was a salmon, then when Peter and Pam came to visit it would have made a nice meal haha!!does Gypsy or Socks eat fish?? I must say though it is lovly to see the places you pass and the photos are great to see them,this year the rivers have been flooding,but never mind at least you keep dry, keep up with to Blog Dear's

    We didn't get too far again today as we are now stuck on Beeston Cut before Beeston Lock. River level is well into the red and after a conversation with the Sawley Lock Keeper Cranfleet Cut flood lock is closed again and will be, at least for this weekend.
