Good morning to you all, there is not a great deal we can
write about at the moment as we are still marooned in Great Barford. At least
yesterday brought us sunshine and for a change “No rain”, however the river is
still high and closed to navigation. I do believe that it has gone down a
little in the night and may be starting to recede, although when I say gone
down it maybe only an inch/2.5 cm, but it’s a start. The situation is the same
all over the river system at the moment with friends marooned on the River
Trent at Nottingham, and others on the River Nene, with both rivers closed to
navigation.
Great Barford must be a local beauty spot as many folk come down to sit and walk by the river, also to enjoy a visit to the pub bringing their drinks to the waters edge to enjoy them. The field oposite is a favourate spot for dog walkers and now with the meadow having some rather large puddles in it there is a lot of activity with both dogs and children getting themselves soaked to the skin as they play in it.
Sally was up this morning at 04.30 as Socks needed to go
out, so for Sally she was up with the lark instead of 09.30 (big smile). I did
look out of the window but got straight back into bed, but Sally bless her did
get a couple of sunrise photos.
As for today it’s a spring cleaning day as our visitors are
arriving tomorrow, which we are looking forward to very much and of course I
have never met Sally’s Canadian cousins before so it should be fun. I will keep
you posted as to how it goes, and of course the river situation.
