Here we are at the end of yet another great day on the Soar, the sun was out and it was warm. The throttle was set just above idle as we slowly moved along, enjoying the scenery and abundant wildlife.

We set off from Barrow upon Soar this morning at around 10.30 heading for Thurmaston and our stop for the night. Passing by Mountsorrel and Rothly.
Negotiation six locks with the last two being shared with NB Moorer, before they pulled out to moor up for a week to go home and take care of things. Some stretches of the Soar were very beautiful again, with other sections being overgrown by hanging trees, which seem to collect all the debris that get caught up in the overhanging branches.

Yet again we have had the saga of whether the locks ahead of us are open or not, so yet again more phone calls. This time we have been assured by British Waterways that the system will defiantly be open on the 2nd April, after them checking with the works team. Oh yes, thanks again to John on NB Acen for your assistance. I did manage also to get a few shots of a Heron in flight today, (I must read the manual on my new camera) a bit blurred you see.
We finaly moored up just before Birstall Lock at 14.20, and it was time for my first bit of fishing this year, but to no avail, mind you I did watch the float for about an hour before tea.

Real signs that Spring has arrived
