We left our mooring at 10.15 and crossed the canal to top up the water tank, as Sally planned a bit of washing on route. Water filled we set off, again heading east, passing through Shardlow and making for the Trent and on to the Soar heading south.
Leaving Shardlow we had only one lock before the Trent, plus one flood lock which was open. As we approached the lock another NB came up behind us, which is always good to share the lock and save water, more important this year because of the water shortage. Once again the sun is out in blue skys and its already quite warm as I drop Sally off to operate the lock.
The lock completed, we reached the Trent at 11.00 making for Trent lock and a short cruise to the junction of the Trent, Earwash canal and the Soar. We got onto the Soar at 12.10 heading South for Zouch and our mooring for the day, on parts it a bit like the upper reaches of the Thames and because of the glorious weather enjoyed it imensly, passing under the flight path of the East Midlands Airport where we were only a few days ago.
After a steady cruise we arrived at our mooring for the night, and settled down for a siesta, then dinner and an evening of TV. What a beautiful day, and soon we will meet up with John and Jo on NB Acen.
Oh yes guess who fell down the gallt stairs today, no it was me and I cut my knee.
