We left Holme Lock on Saturday the 17th making for Nottingham and a trip to Sainsbury to do a bit of food shopping, then onto Beeston where we plan to stop over for the night. The weather once again was sunny and warm, although in general its starting to cool down now as autumn gets closer. Having spent a day over exploring the water sports centre and watching the Humberside Fire and Rescue guys in training.
Once through the lock we wound our way through the town and under its many bridges and closed in by the buildings and apartments which lined its banks. Passing through Castle lock we soon came to the moorings just outside of Sainsbury and stopped for some shopping. Here I picked up a cooked chicken which we planned to have with new bread and butter for our lunch before completing today's journey and mooring at Beeston.
Chicken eaten it was off again passing the massive Boots Industrial estate and into open country before arriving at Beeston at 15.15 and as has been the case all year we found our mooring, the last one available before the lock back onto the Trent. We hadn't been here long before the heavens opened up and the rain started to fall, and with the sun still out we were treated to a fantastic full arch rainbow.
