We left Bardney at 12.40 heading up the straight away from the pontoon mooring and was surprised to see the familiar Red White and Blue trails of the Red Arrows as the practiced above the Lincolnshire countryside, having been grounded due to the accident at Bournmouth only the weekend before.
The river above the lock is now clear of weed which made it a joy to be heading back to Lincoln, the city where I was born and where most of my relations live. We passed some familiar landmarks on our way, the first being Five Mile Bridge where my Father and his friend Les Cole used to go fishing. Then on passed Fiskerton village where some of our family used to live, in years gone by and all of the time having the Cathedral in sight as we meandered along.
Nearing Lincoln we had toasted crumpet with marmalade and a nice mug of tea before reaching the Stamp End lock and our planned stop on the wall just before the Glory Hole.
Just after the lock we filled up our water tank and moved up to town centre, finally mooring up at around 15.20. We had a nice spot against a small fenced garden, ideal for Socks and Gypsy.
