Left Torksey at 09.00 heading for Lincoln where we were to meet my Mother who is staying with us for a few days.
Heading toward Saxilby, we went passed the chicken farms where my Father was the site manager when I was 14 and 15 years old, and where we lived in the bungalow on the farm. We as a family had many a happy day while we lived there. Then just before Saxilby the garage where I had a part time job to earn myself some much needed spending money.
At Saxilby we stopped for water, before pressing on to Lincoln and our rendezvous with my Mummy. Passing a warehouse who sold a vast choice of candelabras and then the Pyewipe Inn, where as a young lad of 8 or 9 years I used to go on my Dads boat "Nancy" and stay the weekends and dive for fresh water muscles. (good memories)
Arriving in Lincoln at 12.00 and finding a mooring straight away (born lucky). Mum arrived with us about 15.00 and we spent the afternoon chatting and catching up, before a good nights sleep.
Oh yes, while I remember; Sally did dinner and while we were eating I could smell rubber burning, and as we ate we were guessing just what it was. Well I have to say it was us, Sally bless here had left the gas on, on the cooker and one of the utensils caught fire, I am pleased to say that there was no real damage other than Sally's pride and a smelly boat for a while.
