After a good mooch around yesterday we decided to do the
tourist thing and explore this fine city of learning. Just as we got ready to
leave the boat it started to rain heavily so our exploration was postponed for
yet another cup of tea.
Rain stopped we locked up and crossed the bridge to Jesus
Green and followed the river along the board walk and passed all the punts
lined up and ready to go. Some folk were out on the water punting the Cam,
although they looked a bit bedraggled after a good soaking from the rain. Around
the road crossing it was like being in Tenerife, with touts selling rides on
the punts rather than time share, but we had a good laugh with them.
Instead of walking into the town we followed the tourists
and took the scenic route which took us around some of the world famous collages.
From an architectural point of view the whole place is magnificent and you can
see the wealth in the city, I have to say you could almost taste the history. Not
being the most eloquent of writers I will let some of the photographs do the
talking.
After our walk it wasn’t too long before we came into the
city centre with all of its shops, so more window shopping was the order of the
day. On our way back to the boat we stopped off at a tapas bar and had lunch
(no cooking for Sally tonight).
Back at the boat I decided to do a little fishing after
taking Socks for a long walk, however someone obviously thought that my rod was
worth taking, so no fishing for me for a while. This is not too bad though as
this is the first thing to go missing in three years (still I am a bit p***ed
off about it), even if it was my fault for leaving it in view.
love the photos , today the environmental agency came through great barford cutting the weed on way up stream all the way to eirith . hope you are well , martin & clare.
