The last two days in Peterborough

Friday 17th May, today's special event is into town "shopping", Sally loves it and me being a doting husband off we went together. My targets for the day were book shops and Jessops to try and get some information on the manual use of my camera. For Sally it was a new pair of shoes "why do women need to have so many of them"? After all she only has nine pairs with her on the boat, and as I am reliably informed this is in no way enough.
For me it was to search out any Bernard Cornwell books I had not read, also to look for my other new author Simon Scarrow. The latter being another "historical history writer", having bought one of his books whilst marooned in Oundle and thouraly enjoyed it. Based on the Roman invasion of Britain in AD43 it was the second book of a series of nine, so I bought the next two, not wishing to go back into the first book.
Next for me was Jessops, and I managed to speak to a young lady who knew her stuff when it came to cameras and I must say I learnt quite a bit about the manual operational side of my Nikon 5100. After getting back to the boat I opened the PDF file "user manual" which is much more in depth than the small paper one that came with the camera, so (onwards and upwards). Watch this space Tony, I may get even better.
Sally was looking for Craft shops and NEEDED to go to M&S, and on both counts her search was unsuccessful, no new shoes and no books on the craft she was looking for, but we had a good time walking around without Socks.
At night we went out for a Chinese meal on the barge moored up at the embankment to celebrate four years of knowing each other. The meal was good, although we did have to wait for the main course quite a while as the kitchen lost our order, but we did get complementary drinks and a sweet for our troubles. The wait did however give us the chance for great conversation across the table, you cant beat a good natter across a dinning table.

Saturday 18th May, Sally and I did a good spring clean around the boat before she left for a trip to the market, leaving me back at the boat to relax and read my new books. (I have become a real book worm)
we had a few calls from friends who wished to visit us this weekend, first it was Ron and Linda (Sally's mum and dad in law) who with Julia a friend and Richard are coming on Saturday afternoon, then it was Ann Jackson, who has arranged to come around lunch time with her sister and mother. So that's a full day for Saturday. We then got a call from Ray (Sally's cousin) who with Janice are coming to see us on Sunday. So we picked a good time to do the spring cleaning.
