As you may guess we are still marooned on Ashton Island with
little prospect of moving before the end of the week as it just keeps raining
(I now know how Noah must have felt over his 40 days) as we are now in our
third week here.
I have had a reply from the Red Kite society thanking me for
the information I gave them on the location. However as things are going I
think we will see the young hatch and leave the nest, before we continue our
journey down the Nene.
We have also had an e-mail from Peter and Verity, the couple
who were on holiday and stranded with us her at Ashton. All seems well for them
as they settle back down to moving house, and it is nice to know that our
readership is increasing (so thanks guys and we wish you well).
Yesterday we had a water delivery from Roy the EA guy, for
which we are more than grateful for the 80 ltrs and the struggle he has to get
it to us in the rain. Whilst here he informed us of a cruiser that had been
left in Peterborough with no licence or name to identify it, so the now sunken
vessel must wait until its owners return to recover it. It appears that it had
been left on tight mooring ropes, and as the water started to flood it was held
so tight that it merely rolled and filled with water. (No photos)
Any way back to us, we had a walk into Oundle again today to
collect a few provisions and surprisingly enough the rain held off for our
walk. Sally treat herself to a craft book and got a few supplies to make some
of the items shown in it. So while I am doing my thing Sally can get her
needles out and make a few bits to keep her amused and stop her getting “cabin
fever”.
