Yet another great day, which has made for Sally and I a fantastic weekend, so to all of our visitors this weekend THANK YOU.
Today brought the visit of Rea, Janice and Clive to our floating home to spend a couple of hours with us, and for Clive it was the first time he had seen the boat in the flesh, so to speak. When they arrived we met them at the car and was whisked off to The Farmers in Yaxley for a beautiful meal which we all enjoyed, and thank you Ray for picking up the tab, it was much appreciated and made a change for Sally and ships rations. From there we were taken to Tesco to pick up a few bits and back to the boat loaded with shopping, two bags of coal and a very large box of Liquorice Allsorts ( a big kiss for Janice). After settling in we had tea and coffee with (no biscuits), before setting off for a short cruise up the river and back.As yesterday we headed up to Orton lock but this time taking a short diversion into the rowing club to see what the mooring was like there. It was good so on our return journey at the end of the summer we will stop there for a night and enjoy the peace and quiet. Back on the river I handed the helm over to ray and he looked at home as the captain of the vessel and on reaching Orton he with a little instruction, turned the boat around and headed back.
On the way we caught sight of some of the wildlife and after Clive had sorted out his camera got some very nice pictures (remember Clive, if it beeps its on timer). Now if you remember yesterday we got some photo's of a pair of Grebes building a nest, well today it was finished and the hen was already sitting, fast birds these.
Once back on our embankment mooring, Sally made some lunch of ham sandwiches and cup cakes and yet more of our wedding cake. I have to say its been a great day full of laughter, fun and good company, even though someone who shall remain nameless (RAY) took the micky out of my spelling on the blog.
Ray and Janice.
Clive.
Here is one for you, the real meaning of taking your dog for a walk.
