Hurrah, marvellous, fantastic, unbelievable we have had a full day without rain and its the first since the 2nd April. It looks like being the same today as well, with the water levels starting to go down as the canoe portage is now out of the water at last.
Since we got up this morning it seems to have gone down a further inch, so things are looking good for moving tomorrow, providing it does not come up again over night. There are however boats moving on the river today all be it only one canoe, with Mum, Dad and Son enjoying a day out on the river, but things are looking up.
We are still enjoying the wildlife around here and have spotted a common woodpecker, although my photographs are not so good as he was shielded by leaves and twigs. Early this morning I put out some chicken to try and entice the Red Kite to come down for a feast, but to no avail so far, keep hoping. I did manage to catch a pair of swans mating on the river, and this is also a first for Sally and I, as I have often wondered just how they manage it being so cumbersome on the land.
As you can see his weight pushes her underwater as he climbs aboard, and then has to hold her head out of the water so as not to drowned his poor wife.
As I write this we are contemplating taking Socks for a good run, which hopefully will include him sprinting through the flooded fields again. I will take my camera just in case as Nikon are running a competition this month based on movement, and if I get a good one of him running with spray coming up behind him, I may enter.
PS, I have now altered the blog, so it will accept anonymous comments.
Your really are getting some great photos. Is a new lens on your wish list for Birthday/Christmas?
