We have been Marooned at Kings Lock now for two days, however with a fair wind the system will be opened up tomorrow on restricted hours. This is from 10am to 16.00 daily, providing that the water supply hold up, as it is the reservoir that feeds this section of the canal is only at 43%. Our own water supply is getting low, so we need to get to Kilby Bridge to top up the tank and empty the cassette, and take a well deserved shower, as I have put us on rations (aye captain)
Today we tackled a few chores like washing the boat, and chopping kindling for the fire. Also this morning we had a crew from the BBC East Midlands Today programme doing a feature on the coming closure of the canal. They spent quite some time with us, interviewing us and even doing some filming inside the boat, I guess they were here with us around fifteen minutes. However when we watched it tonight on the box, we maybe at a push got around 5 to 10 seconds, our moment of canal glory, it was fun though.
If the canal opens we will have to push on to clear the section before it is closed to traffic on the 13th April altogether, and we don't want to miss our chance on getting onto the Nene by that date .
Hopefully there will be a little more to write about tomorrow evening.
