By Friday I was up and about but still suffering the effects of the bug, but decided to head on out of Lincoln and make for Torksey, leaving the wall outside of Wilkinsons at 10.15 in bright sunshine. Our first port of call was the service area just west of the Brayford Pool to top up with water and do the general housekeeping duties.
This done we moved off heading for Burton Waters marina for fuel and gas and on arrival moored on the pontoon whilst another boat filled her tanks. 50 litres of diesel and a new bottle of gas we left the marina heading for Saxilby then on to Torksey, passing the Ponderosa where I lived and worked as a 16 year old. Arriving in Torksey at around 14.00 and mooring up on the first open slot outside of the village in open countryside to allow both Socks and Gypsy the freedom to roam, which they had not had since we left home on the 24th August.
The hunter in Gypsy came out and she caught a mouse, but we managed to stop her bringing it into the boat and she dropped it on the footpath where it made a run for the grass. Then as she tried to find it again Socks went out to help double ganging the poor thing, but Socks got it and with one bite it was dispatched and poor Gypsy lost her toy.
