Today is Monday and I have some catching up to do, although we are still in York and waiting for a visit from Sally's brother Peter and of course Pam.
On Saturday we had a quick visit into town to get a new top for Sally for the wedding reception and a few other bits and pieces before the car was to be delivered. we had arranged for an Astra to take us and Socks to Hull, but when it turned up we were surprised to get a new, automatic, Volvo CX70 estate in shinny black.
We set off for Hull at around 4pm and had a steady drive, directed by the built in Sat Nav, we even got up to 60mph (scary after months of 4mph). At the house we changed and went off to Stacks Bar for the party and reception where the drink flowed and the music was loud, but what a great night. We stayed over at Lainey and Margie's house for the night, sleeping on the couch (or not).
Sunday, we all met up again for a tour of Lainey's workshop and to pick up our new brass mushrooms, before setting off back to York and the boat, getting back at around 2pm. Our friends in one of the gin palaces had looked after our boat, as when we left the water level was dropping, and they had slackened off our ropes. not much else happened as we were tired out and had a very early night.
Today, Monday, while we had the car it made sense to do some grocery shopping so we visited Morrison's, Pets at Home and Homebase and took the supplies back to the boat before returning the car. once back at the boat I took the opportunity to do some more painting, and started on the hatch cover, rubbing down, undercoat, and some of the gloss work. Sally made a Victoria sponge, before we sat down for our evening meal and a good read.
It is looking like we will be here in York until Wednesday afternoon when we will move down to Naburn lock.
